About the position

The CNC Field Service Engineer position is a critical role within a leading manufacturer of precision CNC manufacturing cutting tools, known for its high-quality products and exceptional customer service. This position involves providing on-site and telephone support to customers for the maintenance, repair, and installation of CNC machine tools. The engineer will be responsible for creating and updating technical documentation, which is essential for ensuring that customers have the necessary information to operate and maintain their equipment effectively. Additionally, the role includes assisting in product development by training end customers' Service Engineers on the installation and maintenance of new product lines, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience and product reliability. The company has a strong reputation built over 40 years, with national and international operations that provide a stable work environment, even during economic downturns. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be expected to establish and maintain excellent communication and customer service relationships with clients. The support from an in-house tech team ensures that you have backup when needed, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality service to customers. This position requires a significant amount of travel, approximately 75% of the time, which necessitates proximity to an airport for efficient travel arrangements. All travel expenses are covered, and you will be compensated for travel time, including weekend stays when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and telephone support for customers regarding maintenance, repair, and installation of CNC machine tools.
  • Create and update technical documentation.
  • Assist in product development by training end customers' Service Engineers on the installation and maintenance of new product lines.
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication and customer service relationships with clients.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field, trade school certifications, or equivalent.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of metalworking, installation, repairs, and programming/operating CNC machines with 3, 5, or 7 axes is advantageous.
  • Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Haas, Mori Seiki, etc.), Siemens controls, or Heidenhain is a plus.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and sequence (PLC) ladder diagrams.
