About the position

The CNC Machine Operator position at NS Corporation primarily involves operating and maintaining plasma and waterjet cutting equipment. The role may also encompass various production activities, with training provided for specific equipment such as AKS Plasma and Flow Waterjet. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of CNC operations, particularly with Haas mills and lathes, and will be responsible for developing and writing CNC programs. This position requires a blend of technical skills and mechanical aptitude, as well as the ability to follow detailed instructions and interpret blueprints. The operator will be expected to set up and operate CNC machines according to program specifications, ensuring optimal performance through careful selection of nozzles and cutting tips based on material type and thickness. Additionally, the operator will monitor process gases, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct dimensional inspections to ensure quality control. Responsibilities

• Develop and write CNC programs for Haas mills and lathes, utilizing at least 30% knowledge of programming.
• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes according to program specifications.
• Operate the Plasma and/or Waterjet equipment effectively.
• Select and set up nozzles and/or cutting tips based on material type and thickness.
• Load programs, set machine parameters, and ensure proper fixtures for optimal equipment performance.
• Monitor process gases and report reordering levels to the supervisor.
• Operate forklift and other lifting devices safely.
• Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
• Conduct all dimensional inspections and detect/report defective materials or questionable conditions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1 year of manufacturing machine operator experience required.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude and hand tool knowledge for at least 1 year.
• Ability to use/read tape measures and squares, along with a working knowledge of using calipers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and comprehend verbal and written instructions.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to read and understand GD&T, notes, and tolerances is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to learn new tasks in the field of manufacturing and grow with the company.
