About the position

As a CNC Machinist/Programmer at Emerson, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing of proprietary machined valve components that are utilized across various industries, including oil and gas, petrochemical, power, and aviation/aerospace. This position is based in Pasadena, TX, and is part of a globally established and continually growing company. Your primary responsibility will be to produce both internal and external new valve parts to very close tolerances from a variety of material types, such as carbon steel, 300/400 series stainless steel, and high-nickel alloys, using CNC lathes and CNC mills. In addition to machining new valve parts, you will also contribute to our professional service team, which is responsible for repairing existing valves and valve components. The role operates on the 2nd shift, from Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. You will be expected to prioritize personal safety and the safety of others while adhering to the 5S methodology. Your responsibilities will include setting up and programming machines according to print dimensions, developing and editing CNC programs using G-code and other programming languages, and understanding material hardness, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements, and machining techniques. You will also need to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) as per part drawings. There is potential for field assignments using in-line machines, which may require some travel.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of others while adhering to 5S methodology.
  • Set up and program CNC machines according to print dimensions.

  • Potentially engage in field assignments using in-line machines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Solid understanding of CNC programming and machining techniques.
  • Familiarity with a variety of CNC machines and controls.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mechanical related Associates degree or 5+ years of experience with machining and fabricating.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM (MasterCam) & SolidWorks modeling is preferred.
  • Welding knowledge.
  • Experience in the process control industry.
  • Knowledge of analyzing, evaluating, diagnosing, and resolving equipment and process related problems.
