Develop, implement, and maintain CNC machining processes per customer drawings & specifications on a variety of 3,4,5-Axis CNC equipment. Create in-process CAD/CAM models, work instructions, process flows, NC programs etc. to introduce and manage new product development, as well as improve and optimize existing processes. This position requires a strong understanding of machining, materials, tooling, and standards to meet stringent quality and performance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CNC machining processes, including material form selection, operation sequencing, fixture design, machine selection, tooling selection, and programming.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to determine machining strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality and production, to improve manufacturability and reduce cycle times.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, including tooling wear, machine setup, and process deviations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new machining technologies, equipment, and tooling to enhance productivity, quality, and asset optimization.
  • Provide technical training and support to machine operators and other team members to build team capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by coaching team members on best practices and troubleshooting methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field (preferred but not required; equivalent experience will be considered).
  • 7+ years of experience in CNC machining and process development, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., NX, Solidworks, Mastercam, or similar software), CNC programming, and G-code.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-axis CNC machining centers, including setup, and operation.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, machining tolerances, and material properties.
  • Knowledge of inspection tools, gauging, and methods.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other quality management systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of Mazak controls and Mazatrol
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or hybrid machining processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP)
