About the position

The CNC Programmer position at TriMech Services is a contract role based in Thomaston, CT, requiring expertise in programming using CAD CAM software for 5 Axis Machining and Turning Centers. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC Milling and Turning machines. This role demands a thorough review of specifications and verification of procedures to ensure accuracy in machining processes. The candidate will work closely with the Machine Shop Supervisor and is expected to maximize machine uptime, efficiency, and quality, aiming to exceed a goal of 90% Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Responsibilities

  • Programming, setting up, and operating CNC Milling and Turning machines.
  • Reviewing specifications and verifying procedures for accuracy.
  • Reading blueprints and drawings with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Maximizing machine uptime, efficiency, and quality to exceed a goal of 90% OEE.
  • Developing and maintaining tool data sheets.
  • Performing CNC programming on Fanuc and Siemens controls.
  • Designing and manufacturing modular work holdings and fixtures.
  • Planning new part processes and updating setup documentation.
  • Working with a variety of materials, primarily nodular iron with a mix of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contracts.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years of expert programming experience with 5 Axis Machining and Turning Centers using CAD CAM software, specifically MasterCAM.
  • CNC Programming certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with inspection and metrology tools including micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 standards and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Expert user of CAD and 3D Modeling software, with required experience in SOLIDWORKS.
  • Experience with vertical and horizontal machining.
