Lunar Tool & Mold Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our team, contributing to cutting-edge projects in the aerospace industry. With over 58 years of experience in designing and machining tools and molds, we pride ourselves on delivering superior quality and precision. Our facility is equipped with advanced machinery, including Southwest/Bridgeport Bed and Knee mills, Makino EDMs, and state-of-the-art CNC tooling from Makino, Mitsubishi, and Hwacheon. As a CNC Programmer/Machinist, you will be responsible for planning and building a variety of components used in mold tool design, ensuring tight tolerance machining. You will utilize NX CAD/CAM software to program cutter paths for various CNC equipment, read and interpret blueprints, and maintain accuracy within specified tolerances. Collaboration with engineering staff to provide input on tooling design and manufacturing feasibility is essential. You will also oversee the delegation of tasks among machinists and EDM staff, analyze inspection reports, and ensure that tooling meets customer deadlines while adhering to safety procedures and promoting continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and building a variety of components for mold tool design with tight tolerance machining.
  • Reading and using internal common approach documentation and template files for best processes.
  • Using NX CAD/CAM software to program cutter paths for various CNC equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints while maintaining accuracy of +/- 0.001' when required.
  • Providing input on tooling design towards manufacturing feasibility with engineering staff.
  • Receiving and delegating tasks to/from machinists and EDM staff to meet tool requirements.
  • Analyzing blue light inspection reports with engineering to fulfill tool requirements.
  • Helping direct the build of tooling to meet customer due dates.
  • Following common safety procedures and maintaining good housekeeping practices.
  • Providing continuous improvement input.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience creating 3D tool paths at a high degree of precision required; 3 - 5+ years preferred.
  • 1 year of experience using common professional CAD/CAM suites such as NX, CATIA, AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc. required; 3 - 5+ years preferred.
  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read design prints.
  • Ability to use common CNC control systems such as Fadal, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Makino, etc.
  • Setup of CNC tools and machined blocks.
  • Common computer experience outside of CAD/CAM like Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with common tool room equipment: Knee Mills, Bed Mills, Lathes, Grinders, Drill press, etc.
  • Experience with common measurement tools: Calipers, Indicators, Depth Mics, etc.
  • Siemens NX experience.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with others.
  • Above average computer skills.
  • Strong time management and independent work mindset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and accuracy.
