About the position

Allied Mechanical, established in 1951, is a leader in providing machining services across various industries, including aerospace, energy, and military sectors. The CNC Programmer position is crucial for planning and programming machining sequences for precision components that can range in size from 12 inches to over 100 inches. The role involves programming 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers, as well as horizontal and vertical lathes, including Okuma 5-axis VTL and HMC. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating efficient tool paths and collaborating with planning and shop personnel to analyze and enhance cycle times for both new and existing part programs utilized on various machine tools. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in a machining environment, specifically in producing programs for larger metal parts. Experience with 4 and 5-axis machines is essential, as is a thorough knowledge of MasterCam. Familiarity with Vericut and CATIA is preferred, along with a solid understanding of CNC machine tools and operations. The position requires the ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including prints and factory orders, and strong problem-solving skills are necessary. The CNC Programmer must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and flexible in adapting to changing priorities and assignments. Due to ITAR requirements, candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined by federal law.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and program machining sequences for precision machined components.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a machining environment producing programs for larger metal parts.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience programming for 4 and 5-axis machines for larger, complex parts.
  • Thorough knowledge of MasterCam.
  • Prior experience utilizing Vericut desired.
  • CATIA knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of set-up and CNC machine tools and operations.
  • Trade school or college technical education preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret information from prints, factory orders, and routings.
  • Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior job shop/aerospace experience preferred.
