The CNC Programmer is responsible for programming CNC machines from scratch and making necessary edits to existing programs. This role requires the creation of programs based on a given routing and process plan, while overseeing the operation of six CNC machines. The CNC Programmer will collaborate with two other programmers to ensure efficient production processes. The parts to be programmed vary significantly in size, ranging from small table-top pieces to larger items weighing up to 7,000 pounds. Given the nature of small production runs, the role necessitates frequent reprogramming to accommodate new products. Additionally, the CNC Programmer will be tasked with maintaining and updating CAM software to ensure optimal performance of the CNC machines. The CNC machines utilized in this position are primarily 4-axis milling machines equipped with Fanuc controls, with one 5-axis machine available, although it is not currently in use. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate proficiency in CNC programming, particularly with Fanuc controls, and possess the ability to program both 4-axis and 5-axis milling machines. Attention to detail, collaboration, and adaptability are essential soft skills that will contribute to success in this role. The work environment includes advanced equipment such as Niigata and Ikegai horizontal mills, featuring various configurations and Fanuc 16i, 21i, and 31i controls.
