About the position

The CNC Setup/Operator/Programmer position at Electroswitch is a full-time role on the 2nd shift, specifically designed for individuals with a strong background in CNC operations. The working hours are from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Fridays. This position requires the operator to perform precise and varied operations using a range of CNC equipment, including Okuma, Haas, Mori Seki, Horizontal Miller, and other computer-controlled turning and milling centers. The primary responsibility is to manufacture complete parts from piece part prints, ensuring adherence to print specifications and quality standards. In this role, the operator will determine and program the machining sequence, select appropriate tooling, and execute the program layout to produce parts that meet specified tolerances. The operator will work from verbal instructions, shop orders, and blueprints to fabricate components and assemblies, utilizing various machinery such as CNC millers, lathes, and rotary indexing tables. Setting up work with existing tooling and fixtures is essential, and in some cases, the operator may need to devise and fabricate specialized fixtures for specific operations. The position also involves inspecting all machined components using necessary inspection equipment to ensure quality and safety in the work area. Additionally, the operator may assist other operations throughout the shop, provide training as needed, and help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with specialized training in math, trigonometry, complex blueprint reading, and machine programming, complemented by five or more years of relevant machine shop experience. This position is restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents due to access to controlled technology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform exacting and diversified operations utilizing various types of CNC equipment.
  • Determine and program machining sequence, tooling selection, program layout, and execution to produce parts to print specifications.
  • Work from verbal instructions, shop orders, and blueprints to fabricate components and assemblies complete to print tolerance.
  • Set up work with existing tooling/fixtures and devise specialized fixtures and holding devices as needed.
  • Select tooling and proper program for machining operations.
  • Inspect all machined components using necessary inspection equipment.
  • Ensure good quality and maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Assist other operations throughout the shop as required.
  • Provide training as required and assist with the upkeep of the area.

Requirements

  • High/vocational school diploma plus specialized training in math, trigonometry, complex blueprint reading, and machine programming.
  • Five or more years of related machine shop experience.
  • Ability to work with CNC millers, lathes, rotary indexing tables, and dividing heads.
  • Experience in programming and operating CNC equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Okuma, Haas, and Mori Seki CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment and quality control processes.
