About The Position

The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing the County's zoning codes and regulations through investigative and compliance work. This role involves interpreting and applying County Ordinances, responding to complaints, conducting inspections, and preparing cases for the Code Enforcement Board. The officer works independently under the supervision of the Code Enforcement Manager, ensuring compliance with safety standards and community codes.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in code enforcement or a related field.
• Knowledge of zoning codes and regulations.
• Ability to interpret and apply County Ordinances.
• Strong investigative and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspects reported code violations and formulates determinations for compliance.
• Prepares documentation and correspondence for code enforcement cases.
• Presents cases to the Code Enforcement Board and recommends compliance measures.
• Coordinates with County departments, state and federal agencies, and the public during case processing.
• Performs routine inspections of properties for compliance with safety standards and zoning codes.
• Facilitates voluntary compliance through outreach and interaction with residents.
• Maintains community standards by monitoring areas for violations.
• Prepares special reports and maintains activity records.
• Responds to citizen complaints regarding County ordinances and encourages compliance.
• Completes landscaping inspections for commercial and residential developments.
• Educates residents about codes and regulations.
• Gathers evidence for code violation hearings and researches property ownership and ordinances.
