About the position

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne as a full-time Cognos Developer in our Student Information Systems office. This position plays a crucial role in supporting both internal and external decision-making processes by developing and responding to reporting solutions for all units on campus. The Cognos Developer will be responsible for creating new reports and modifying existing ones based on end-user requests, ensuring that the reporting needs of the university are met effectively. The annual salary for this position is $54,621. In this role, you will track and maintain Cognos licenses, granting access to new users as necessary. You will also be tasked with training and supporting the Cognos end-user community, ensuring that users are well-equipped to utilize the system effectively. Additionally, you will support upgrades to Cognos and the Operational Data Store (ODS) by participating in testing and troubleshooting processes, which are essential for maintaining the integrity and functionality of the reporting systems. Monitoring ODS jobs will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that data flows smoothly and that any issues are addressed promptly. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to supporting the university's mission through effective data reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to end-users requests for creation of new reports or modification of existing reports.
  • Track and maintain Cognos licenses and grant licenses to new users.
  • Train and support Cognos end-user community.
  • Support Cognos and Operational Data Store (ODS) upgrades by participating in testing and troubleshooting processes.
  • Monitor Operational Data Store (ODS) jobs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or any other quantitative discipline.
  • 3 years of experience using Cognos.
  • 3 years of experience developing SQL scripts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Previous experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with stakeholders.
