About the position

The Collections Coordinator will manage a portfolio of customer accounts, focusing on cash collection and ensuring timely payments from high-value and high-risk customers. This role involves daily cash posting, customer data management, and compliance with company policies, particularly during the upcoming ERP implementation. The position requires proactive communication with customers and banks to facilitate collections and maintain accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Manage own portfolio of customer accounts worldwide.
  • Pro-actively chase customers on open account terms to meet cash collection targets.
  • Control supplies to customers outside of credit terms to encourage prompt payment.
  • Carry out daily cash posting and ensure accuracy in posting to the correct accounts and invoices.
  • Create and maintain new customer accounts and ensure accurate billing information in the ERP system.
  • Support ERP implementation to ensure customer data integrity.
  • Check and dispatch documentation to banks in line with deadlines.
  • Liaise with banks and Group Treasury to ensure adherence to policies.
  • Handle incoming emails and run credit holds within the ERP system.
  • Update and maintain excel spreadsheets for reporting and month-end tasks.

Requirements

  • General education including English & Maths GCSE grade C and above or practical experience within a finance department.
  • 2 years plus experience in a finance-related role.
  • Ability to use system databases (AX, SAP) and proficiency in Excel and Word, including lookups and pivot tables.
  • Experience compiling export documentation such as Documentary Collections/LC's (desirable).
  • AICM/CICP certification or willingness to study (desirable).
  • Experience adhering to company policy and identifying process improvements (desirable).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with credit reference agency software.
  • Involvement in ERP testing and project upgrades.
  • Participation in internal seminars/events and external credit forums.
