The College of Science, Engineering, and Technology (CSET) Business Manager is responsible for managing fiscal resources and financial planning for the college. This role involves overseeing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting grant and contract management. The Business Manager works closely with the CSET dean and department chairs to optimize resource allocation and financial reporting, contributing to the overall financial health of the college.

  • Design and maintain a comprehensive Academic Year Plan (AYP) for monitoring faculty workload targets.
  • Prepare an annual financial budget for each department/program in collaboration with the CSET dean and department chairs.
  • Distribute monthly financial budget reports to monitor the college's financial resources.
  • Advise the CSET dean on budget and fiscal issues, trends, and opportunities.
  • Assist the Office of Sponsored Programs and Business Services Office during fiscal year-end for financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with post-award grant and contract activities and timely submission of reports and invoices.
  • Monitor expenses to ensure compliance with sponsoring agencies' regulations and conduct variance analysis.
  • Financial monitoring and reporting of grant budgets, salary allocations, and account reconciliations.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Two years of work experience in accounting required; grant experience in higher education is highly advantageous.
  • General knowledge of budgeting theory and practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance regulations pertaining to grants preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong customer service skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • In-depth working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP system preferred.
