About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Commercial Banking Relationship Management Senior Manager / Commercial Banking Leader (CBL) for our Chicagoland market as part of Middle Market Banking Group. This key position is responsible for managing commercial banking relationship managers located in both our Chicago and Westchester office locations. The CBL can office from either of those locations. In this role, you will act as an advisor to determine appropriate strategy and actions of team to guide, influence, develop, retain, and grow moderately complex client relationships through the art of relationship management, by understanding the needs and priorities of clients and financial decision makers, responding quickly, communicating proactively but strategically, managing expectations, and soliciting feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an advisor to determine appropriate strategy and actions of team to guide, influence, develop, retain, and grow moderately complex client relationships.
  • Manage and develop team of relationship managers or relationship management managers with moderate complexity and risk in Commercial Banking.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development within function and across Commercial Banking Relationship Management.
  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions of relationship management team to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables.
  • Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including senior managers, and interact directly with clients.
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives.
  • Lead team in driving relationship planning activities and maintain sales and pipeline disciplines.
  • Partner with Commercial Lending Product Management to provide vision, leadership, and expertise on client and market needs.
  • Lead team to offer the full suite of solutions to meet clients' needs.
  • Manage relationship management team to support Business Development Representatives in sourcing new Commercial Banking clients.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Commercial Banking Relationship Management experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing a team of relationship managers.
  • Experience effectively leading through change.
  • Commercial credit experience involving commercial or specialty group relationship portfolio credit.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of credit policy, compliance, and underwriting requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial or specialty group banking products.
  • Ability to motivate others to greater performance.
  • Ability to successfully develop and execute a business strategy and exceed goals.
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
