About The Position

The Sr. Credit Analyst at Byline Bank is responsible for providing analytical and underwriting support for commercial banking. This role involves independent analysis of the creditworthiness of customers and prospects, working closely with the lending function to assess the risk of commercial transactions and document them thoroughly. The position requires a strong understanding of financial analysis, risk assessment, and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis within a financial institution.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver.
  • High-level problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with effective time and project management skills.
  • Strong change management, organizational, and planning capabilities.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Perform commercial credit analysis by reviewing credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, and environmental reports.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statement spreads to determine credit strengths and weaknesses of potential customers.
  • Conduct collateral analysis of assets including accounts receivables, inventory, equipment, and real estate.
  • Perform credit classification analysis including customer base profiling and delinquency assessments.
  • Analyze inventory metrics and assess stale inventory and valuations.
  • Evaluate equipment market value against book value and assess liquidation values.
  • Examine real estate collateral and appraisals, considering special use facilities.
  • Contact customers for additional information during the underwriting process.
  • Identify and assess business, industry, and market risks to inform credit evaluations.
  • Conduct business sector analyses to evaluate company health against competitors.
  • Evaluate growth potential using economic theories.
  • Order underwriting items such as audits, appraisals, and inspections from internal and external sources.
  • Approve final funding reconciliation in Vendor Services.
  • Record and maintain vendor order costs in Vendor Services.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to Credit Analyst trainees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
