The Commercial Credit Underwriter is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for the underwriting and structuring of both straightforward and complex credit transactions. This position operates with minimal oversight from the Credit Officer (CO) and the Commercial Credit Manager (CCM), allowing for a degree of autonomy in decision-making. The Underwriter is tasked with approving credit transactions, utilizing an established approval grid, and will receive coaching from the CO/CCM as necessary. In cases where clients have straightforward credit needs, the Underwriter leads the credit approval process, while for more complex transactions, they collaborate closely with the CO to ensure thorough evaluation and approval. In addition to leading the credit approval process, the Underwriter is also responsible for documentation and closing of straightforward credit transactions, playing an active role in the documentation and closing of more complex transactions alongside the CO. This role requires the delivery of comprehensive financial, industry, and economic analyses to facilitate informed decision-making, while ensuring strict adherence to credit policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements. Furthermore, the Underwriter is expected to provide ongoing coaching and support to other members of the Credit team, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable work environment. The Underwriter reports directly to the Commercial Credit Manager and works closely with Credit Officers and Analysts to assess and deliver effective credit solutions, monitor client performance, and proactively identify potential issues and opportunities.
