As a Commercial Lines Assistant Underwriter, you will be responsible for marketing new and renewal policy submissions, which may involve underwriting and rating with alternate carrier channels. You will negotiate terms and conditions, including pricing, coverages, deductibles, and exclusions. Additionally, you will solicit and market additional lines of coverage, review insurance applications and quotes for accuracy and completeness, and provide service for existing accounts. This includes ensuring compliance with surplus lines and obtaining necessary account information for underwriting purposes. In this role, you will also serve as the account manager for client files, which involves managing submission files, policy and endorsement issuance, invoicing policy delivery, and verifying that audits are completed. You will be expected to follow established quality control guidelines and meet licensing requirements. Building key relationships with retail agents and carriers while supporting the Team Leader (Production Underwriter) is also a critical aspect of this position.

Responsibilities

• Market new and renewal policy submissions, including underwriting and rating with alternate carrier channels.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, including pricing, coverages, deductibles, and exclusions.
• Solicit and market additional lines of coverage.
• Review insurance applications and quotes for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide service for existing accounts, ensuring surplus lines compliance and obtaining necessary account information for underwriting purposes.
• Manage client files as account manager, including submission files, policy and endorsement issuance, invoicing policy delivery, and verifying audits are completed.
• Follow established quality control guidelines.
• Meet licensing requirements.
• Communicate and build key relationships with retail agents and carriers while supporting the Team Leader (Production Underwriter).

Requirements

• Holds an active state insurance license (2-20 or 4-40 license).
• Two to three years of Commercial Lines Insurance experience.
• Insurance Carrier rating experience (preferred).
• Supportive of the Sales & Production process.
• Proficiency in Word & Excel.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively prioritize job duties in a deadline-driven environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a production-focused team environment.
• Goal-oriented and committed to excellent customer service.
