In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and growing a book of business while managing agency relationships and serving as the lead client contact. You will create and execute a marketing plan aimed at increasing both new and renewal business. Your expertise will be crucial in rating, quoting, and binding each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for large or complex renewals as well as new business. Additionally, you will develop and submit underwriting referrals to our company brokerage facilities and Burns & Wilcox management. Monitoring key metrics will be essential to formulate corrective actions that impact new business hit rates, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratios. Furthermore, you will lead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate Underwriters, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and grow a book of business
  • Manage agency relationships and serve as lead client contact
  • Create and execute marketing plan to increase new and renewal business

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial lines underwriting experience required, excess & surplus experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
  • Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
  • Interest in continued education and professional development
  • Insurance license, CPCU, CIC or comparable designations preferred
