As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in helping our insurance carrier, MGA, or wholesale broker clients by managing various Property & Casualty sectors, including General Liability, Professional/Management Liability, Property, Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, Umbrella, Inland Marine, and Excess & Surplus commercial lines of business. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough risk selection and classification of insureds, making critical underwriting decisions regarding risk acceptability, coverage alternatives, and pricing. You will manage a portfolio of new and renewal business, focusing on effective book management while developing and maintaining strong relationships with producers, brokers, and reinsurers. Accurate file documentation in accordance with company guidelines is essential, as is achieving acceptable underwriting profit levels within your assigned book of business.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate and thorough risk selection with proper classification of insureds.
  • Make critical underwriting decisions on risk acceptability, coverage alternatives, and pricing.
  • Manage a portfolio of new and/or renewal business with focus on book management.
  • Develop and maintain superior relationships with producers, brokers, and reinsurers.
  • Maintain accurate file documentation in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Achieve acceptable underwriting profit levels within assigned book of business.

Requirements

  • 25 years of full-time work experience in the insurance industry.
  • 10 recent years of Property & Casualty insurance experience.
