About the position

We are now hiring for a Commercial Underwriter, located in our Arlington, TX / Bloomington, IN / Knoxville, TN or South Sioux City, NE office. For this position, we need someone who is self-motivated with an analytical and keen eye for risk assessments and experience ensuring sound financial decisions. Skilled in relationship building and resiliency are keys to your success as an underwriter, but you won't be doing this alone. You will work closely with our collaborative team to meet company goals and grow as a professional. In this position, you will analyze and evaluate commercial auto applications to determine risk and make informed decisions. You will directly impact the profitability and success of our business, having autonomy in your work and managing your own book of business in a fast-paced environment. You will become a trusted partner with our agents and insureds through your relationship-building skills. Additionally, you will demonstrate your experience and expertise by collecting, analyzing, evaluating potential loss hazards and structuring insurance programs to meet the needs of our insureds. Participation in a training program that includes one-on-one mentoring, classroom instruction, and self-study is also part of the role. Successful candidates will have prior experience in finance, banking, sales or a profession where you built and developed long-term relationships. Negotiation skills and the ability to analyze risk are essential, as well as the ability to identify customer needs and market Great West products and services to them. This position offers an optional hybrid work schedule, with three days working in the office and two days working remotely.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in finance, banking, sales, or a profession where long-term relationships were built and developed.
