About the position

The position involves providing oversight and monitoring of daily operations for the Middle Market Underwriting unit, including support services provided by the Underwriter Associates. The individual will act as a referral Underwriter, trainer, and overall point of authority for the Commercial Underwriters. Additionally, the role includes assisting the Commercial Insurance Division (CID) Vice President with planning, developing, establishing, and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, underwriting guidelines, and authority levels. The individual will be accountable for achieving premium, retention, loss ratio, expense, and marketing goals for the unit. Managing the producer force with a focus on producer relationship management is also a key responsibility. The position requires supervising assigned staff to ensure timely task completion and excellent customer service. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert and resource to other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and monitoring of daily operations for the Middle Market Underwriting unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required, preferably in Business Administration.
  • 7 years commercial underwriting experience required; and successful managerial experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical, sales, and supervisor background experience will be considered.
  • Continuing education in insurance and job-related issues and subjects required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Attainment of or working toward CPCU or other professional designation(s) preferred.

Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range: $100,000 ~ $150,000, commensurate with experience.
