About the position

The City of Riviera Beach is seeking a skilled and experienced Communications and Marketing Director to lead its Communications and Marketing Team. This senior-level role involves managing all public communications for the city, including various media channels and publications. The Director will be responsible for developing strategies to enhance public engagement and improve the city's image through effective messaging and content creation. As the principal spokesperson, the Director will represent the city at public and media events, often outside of regular business hours, and will oversee a team of professionals in the communications field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Communications and Marketing Team in managing public communications for the City of Riviera Beach.
• Develop and execute strategies to enhance public engagement and strengthen the city's image.
• Oversee the production of content for Channel 18, RBTV YouTube, social media channels, and the Riviera Beach Magazine.
• Act as the principal spokesperson for the city at public and media events.
• Collaborate with Police and Fire Departments to ensure accurate public safety messaging.
• Guide and mentor a team of Public Information Officers, a Multimedia Supervisor, Webmaster, and a Communications Specialist.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, journalism, public administration, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications, public or media relations, or public information.
• Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience.
• Excellent writing and speaking skills.
• Valid Florida driver's license.
