The Communications Specialist I position at the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) involves operating telecommunications or radio equipment to provide essential operator or dispatch services. This role is designed for both entry-level and journey-level candidates, and it may include lead worker functions. As a Communications Specialist, you will serve as a PBX or Centrex attendant, responsible for training other attendants in the operation of these systems. Additionally, you will take on the role of shift supervisor, which includes preparing work schedules for other attendants to ensure smooth operations during your shift. In this position, you will be tasked with operating radio or teletype equipment, receiving and transmitting both routine and emergency communications via radio, telephone, and teletype. Your responsibilities will also include dispatching law enforcement, public safety personnel, or other necessary equipment in response to service requirements. This role is critical in maintaining effective communication within the hospital and ensuring that emergency services are promptly dispatched when needed. The work environment is dynamic and requires a high level of attention to detail, as you will be handling sensitive information and coordinating responses to various situations. The position is full-time, with a scheduled weekly workload of 40 hours, primarily during the night shift on weekdays.
