About the position

The Communications Specialist II at IEA Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives plays a crucial role in supporting the company's internal communication efforts. This position is designed to inform, influence, and inspire internal clients through strategic communication initiatives that enhance the company brand and strengthen employee engagement. The specialist will work closely with various internal departments and stakeholders to create and disseminate content across multiple channels, including email, employee communication apps, digital publishing networks, and internal events. The goal is to ensure that the communication aligns with the company's strategic priorities and effectively engages employees. In this role, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for identifying, researching, planning, writing, scheduling, and publishing content for company newsletters targeted at specific audiences. This includes developing content for internal stakeholders and projects, creating content campaigns for the company website and social media, and providing recommendations on measurable internal strategies and tactics. The specialist will also contribute to the overall content strategy based on stakeholder priorities and employee engagement goals, ensuring that the brand voice is consistently conveyed across all communications. Additionally, the Communications Specialist will monitor analytics and generate reports to influence communication strategies, proofread materials to ensure accuracy and high quality, and collaborate with internal clients to meet their communication needs. This position requires a proactive approach to communication and a strong understanding of corporate communications within a business setting, particularly in the construction-related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, plan, write, schedule and publish content for company newsletters to targeted audiences through various communication platforms (email, text, print, apps, etc.)
  • Develop content for internal stakeholders and projects
  • Create content campaigns for the website and social media
  • Provide recommendations on measurable internal strategies and tactics
  • Contribute to overall content strategy based on stakeholders' strategic priorities and employee engagement goals
  • Collaborate with internal clients to ensure brand voice is conveyed consistently
  • Monitor analytics and generate reports to influence communication strategy
  • Proofread materials to produce accurate and high-quality work

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or related field required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years relevant professional experience in communications or marketing
  • Familiarity with corporate communications in a business setting, preferably in a construction-related industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal clients/business partners
  • Ability to think creatively to meet business requirements
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Organized with an eye for detail
  • Ability to handle projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with HTML email programs such as Constant Contact and/or texting platforms is a plus
