About the position

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Communications Specialist III to join their team. This role is pivotal in developing moderately complex content and marketing materials for both web and print media. The incumbent will engage in a variety of tasks including writing, editing, conducting research, and creating web graphics and templates. The position also encompasses managing social media platforms, producing signs and banners, drafting emails, reports, and other communications collateral. In addition to content creation, the Communications Specialist III will serve as a strategic contributor to the communications team, ensuring that all materials align with the University’s branding and design standards. The role requires maintaining and updating relevant websites and social media accounts in a timely and accurate manner. The incumbent will also be responsible for tracking and posting publications, study recruitment materials, job opportunities, conferences, and events. Furthermore, the position involves providing planning and support for various conferences, events, and promotions, which includes advertising, photographing events, and liaising with vendors to develop necessary materials and deliverables. Collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) is essential for the overall management strategy of the department's websites. The Communications Specialist III will also attend events and meetings to support the Department's goals and priorities, and will organize and coordinate the Panther Rounds lecture series.

Responsibilities

  • Develop moderately complex web and print content and marketing communications.
  • Act as a strategic contributor for the communications team.
  • Create diverse marketing materials for the marketing team.
  • Attend meetings designed for content planning and development.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and maintain University brand and style.
  • Manage internal and external communication strategies.
  • Track publications, conferences, and events.
  • Provide planning and support for conferences, meetings, and events, including Panther Rounds.
  • Manage and create web content for the department and individual labs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications or marketing.
  • Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirement.
