About the position

Vistra is seeking a Communication Specialist to provide support to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Office of Strategic Communications (OSC). The Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role within the Digital Multimedia Team of the OSC by contributing to digital communications strategies, plans, and campaigns, as well as developing and optimizing informational content. This position is fully remote, but the candidate will be required to attend in-person meetings at Quantico, VA, up to twice a month. The role demands a strong understanding of social media platforms and content optimization, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all external communications materials are error-free, accessible, and understandable, while also producing timely and high-quality daily communication products. The Communications Specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders to create multimedia content, develop content calendars in collaboration with the Social Media Manager, and craft engaging content for various platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn. Additionally, the role involves adapting multimedia content for social media campaigns to optimize reach and engagement, ensuring consistency in multimedia branding across all channels, and collaborating with the Web Development Team to integrate multimedia content seamlessly. The candidate will also be responsible for implementing multimedia content management systems for efficient asset management and preparing monthly activity reports on completed graphics, social media articles, and website materials. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and analyzing target audience demographics, preferences, and behaviors, as well as interpreting customer requirements to develop concepts aligned with NCIS style guidelines. The Communications Specialist will also be expected to conceptualize, script, storyboard, and schedule video projects, and submit weekly staffing management reports detailing tasking status.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public affairs, public relations, marketing, or related field and 4+ years of experience.
  • Secret security clearance required.
  • Willing to travel to Quantico, VA on a monthly basis.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and content optimization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with SEO principles and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) for multimedia content.
  • Familiarity with government or large organizational communication practices.
  • Proficient in web design software and content management systems (such as the Armed Forces Public Information Management System).
