About the position

The Communications Specialist at R.D. Offutt Company will play a pivotal role in creating engaging, informative, and persuasive content across various communication channels. This position involves crafting a wide range of materials including blog posts, social media copy, intranet articles, internal communications, press releases, backgrounders, and video scripts, all aimed at both internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in writing and editing, with the ability to translate complex or routine information into clear and engaging content. A highly creative mindset and eagerness to develop and deploy new ideas are essential for success in this role. Specific duties will include writing clear, concise, and compelling copy that resonates with diverse audiences, while appreciating the unique qualities of different communication platforms. The Communications Specialist will develop blogs, articles, and informational materials, as well as support and edit social media content for RDO Equipment Co., R.D. Offutt Farms, and Threemile Canyon Farms. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the creation of creative assets such as videos, infographics, and interactive social content. The position also supports internal communications initiatives by creating content for the company intranet, drafting messages on behalf of company executives, and aiding in internal communications campaigns. A high-level understanding of relevant key performance indicators will be developed to enhance future content strategies. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for editing and proofreading content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines, while collaborating with various teams to support overall communications and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging and persuasive content across various channels including blogs, social media, and internal communications.
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling copy tailored to different audiences and platforms.
  • Develop blogs, articles, and informational materials, and support social media content editing.
  • Contribute to the creation of creative assets such as videos, infographics, and interactive content.
  • Support internal communications initiatives by creating content for the company intranet and drafting executive messages.
  • Develop an understanding of key performance indicators to improve future content.
  • Edit and proofread content for accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to support communications and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in communications or related fields.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder needs simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish trusted professional relationships.
  • Willingness to learn and provide/accept constructive feedback.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 suite (preferred).
  • Familiarity with AP style writing guidelines (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with generative AI prompt engineering (bonus).
  • Experience with short-form video production and/or photography (bonus).
