About the position

J.M. Huber Corporation is seeking a Communications Specialist to join its Corporate Communications team. This role is pivotal in enhancing internal and external communications through strong writing and storytelling skills. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for crafting clear and engaging content that supports the company's strategies and initiatives. The position requires a blend of project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build networks within the organization. The successful candidate will work on various communication platforms to ensure that employees and stakeholders receive accurate and timely information. In this role, the Communications Specialist will research and write internal news items, which may include annual reports, corporate announcements, and infographics. The individual will also review and edit materials created by others, ensuring consistency and clarity in messaging. Additionally, the specialist will maintain website content, support the development of internal presentations for executives, and provide content for corporate social media channels. The ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines is essential, as is the flexibility to perform other duties as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of corporate writing or content production experience. Familiarity with graphic design, videography, and photography is advantageous. Proficiency in the Office 365 suite, basic knowledge of InDesign, and experience managing WordPress websites are also required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are crucial, as is the ability to translate complex financial data into understandable language for employees. The role may require working outside of traditional office hours, and the work environment is a cubicle in a high-traffic area, emphasizing the need for adaptability and collaboration within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Research and write internal news items, including annual reports, features, financial updates, corporate and departmental announcements, award applications, and infographics.
  • Review and edit materials created by others to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Write and maintain website content to keep it current and engaging.
  • Support the development of internal presentations for executives, ensuring they are informative and visually appealing.
  • Provide content for corporate social media channels to enhance the company's online presence.
  • Manage numerous projects on tight deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the Corporate Communications team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or closely related field.
  • 5+ years of corporate writing or content production experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic graphic design, videography, and photography experience is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Office 365 full suite of tools (OneDrive, OneNote, SharePoint Online, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Basic knowledge of InDesign, Adobe mark-up, and project management tools.
  • Experience building surveys in SurveyMonkey or similar tools and ability to analyze results.
  • Experience managing WordPress-based websites.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with employees and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to understand corporate financial reports and translate data into non-financial language employees will understand.
  • Basic knowledge of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion issues and topics, community engagement programs, as well as Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) frameworks and sustainability reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, including working outside of traditional office hours as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as collaborate within a team environment.
