About The Position

The role requires the incumbent to operate and maintain infrastructure supporting remote mountaintop microwave communications facilities throughout Nevada, ensuring the reliability of the statewide communications network.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in electronics technology or equivalent with relevant coursework.
• Three years of technical electronics experience, including one year in communications equipment.
• Completion of trade school or military training in electronics technology with three years of experience.
• One year of experience as a Communications Systems Specialist I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized electronic technician work involving communication systems.
• Fabricate, install, maintain, repair, and modify communication systems such as two-way radios and microwave equipment.
• Act as a lead worker for lower-level Communications Systems Specialists and other technical staff.
• Assist in systems engineering and design, including frequency availability and path analysis.
• Conduct research and development for communication systems, including site layout and installation methods.
• Travel frequently to remote communications facilities for maintenance and operation.
• Operate and maintain various vehicles and equipment, including 4WD trucks, ATVs, and snowmobiles.
