About The Position

The Community Support Specialist provides integrated, holistic, community support services engaging both the child and parent/caregiver. This position is full-time and benefit eligible, with a compensation of $24.54 to $25.81 hourly, depending on qualifications. A sign-on bonus of $1,500 is offered for Community Support Specialists, with an additional $500 for Qualified Mental Health Professionals. The role involves working collaboratively with clients and families to improve their functioning and achieve treatment goals through a strengths-based approach.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least four years of experience in a relevant field if no degree is obtained, or a combination of higher education and experience.
  • At least two years of experience required if an Associate's degree is the highest education obtained.
  • At least one year of experience required if a non-human service Bachelor's degree is the highest education obtained.
  • Experience must include working with individuals with psychiatric, substance use, and/or developmental disabilities.
  • A valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a human service-related field preferred.
  • Experience working in integrated health teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized services based on strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences identified collaboratively with client/family.
  • Engage parents in treatment to improve clinical outcomes for the child.
  • Provide services using a System of Care philosophy and a holistic, person-centered perspective.
  • Support client/family in completing goals identified on Wellness Plans and reassess needs as necessary.
  • Assist families in accessing and arranging services and resources to achieve their goals.
  • Maintain contact with clients during hospitalization and participate in discharge planning.
  • Provide educational information and skill building to clients and families regarding daily living skills, coping skills, and symptom management.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans and provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Assist client/family in developing natural support systems.
  • Participate in and coordinate with interagency team members to advocate for the mental health needs of the child/family.
  • Complete documentation collaboratively with client and family within required timeframes.
  • Meet service provision expectations per client needs and agency guidelines, including providing services in the home during evenings and weekends.
