About the position

The Compensation and Benefits intern will be immersed in the core functions of the Compensation and Benefits department at BMW Manufacturing Company. This internship is designed to provide a hands-on experience where the intern will be treated as a valuable team member from day one. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to various projects and initiatives, gaining exposure to multiple departments within the plant. The role emphasizes learning by doing, allowing the intern to take on responsibilities that will enhance their understanding of compensation and benefits processes. Throughout the internship, the intern will support the Compensation and Organization Team in several key areas, including compensation benchmarking and position benchmarking. They will be responsible for updating Job Function Data Sheets (JFDS) for both new and existing positions, assisting with plant headcount and budget planning, and supporting the benefits team in vendor reviews and open enrollment presentations. Additionally, the intern will handle HR Service Center cases, ensuring timely responses and updates. The role also involves updating and modifying process documents for the Compensation & Benefits teams, supporting audits and compliance inquiries, and maintaining organization charts. The intern will participate in continuous improvement workshops, documenting the outcomes, and will conduct data analysis of medical plan expenses for Plant Spartanburg. Furthermore, the intern will engage in the analysis of Compensation Survey Results, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Compensation and Organization Team in compensation benchmarking and position benchmarking.
  • Update Job Function Data Sheets (JFDS) for new and existing positions.
  • Assist with plant headcount and budget planning.
  • Support the benefits team in vendor reviews and open enrollment presentations.
  • Answer HR Service Center cases daily.
  • Update and modify process documents for the Compensation & Benefits teams.
  • Support benefits team with audits and compliance questions.
  • Maintain organization charts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement workshops and document outcomes.
  • Conduct data analysis of medical plan expenses for Plant Spartanburg.

Requirements

  • Data analysis skills.
  • 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at the time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from the current university.
  • Must attach a copy of unofficial transcript.
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
