About The Position

The Complex Installer position at Johnson Controls involves leading the installation of integrated security systems, including access control, CCTV, and intercom systems. The role requires effective communication with customers and subcontractors, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • An industry-recognized apprentice training program may be substituted for the formal education requirement.
  • Significant background (minimum 5 years experience) in Digital Camera Systems.
  • Significant background (minimum 5 years experience) in Access Control Systems.
  • Understanding of the function and design of Alarm Systems.
  • Experience with IP addressable security devices (minimum 2 years).
  • Must be computer literate, including advanced TCP/IP networking skills.
  • Must be able to operate a company truck with an acceptable driving record.
  • Florida FASA/BASA certification or National Fire Certification like Nicet or NTS.
  • Associate Degree or 2-year technical school program graduate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison on site with subcontractors and other technicians as the JCI lead.
  • Familiarize with fire alarm systems, access control systems, intrusion systems, IP video, intercom, and visitor management systems.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with customers, contractors, and site supervisors.
  • Understand the scope of work and site drawings to identify deviations and capture change orders.
  • Use electronic test equipment to solve complicated problems during installation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Securely configure IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways on the customer's network.
  • Readjust, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
  • Set up virtual LANs to separate traffic into smaller, more manageable units.
  • Provide desktop support for customers and JCI, including installation and configuration of software and hardware.
  • Configure servers and workstations, including domain credentials and remote desktop.
  • Perform system checks for proper operation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize work with attention to detail.
  • Analyze information effectively.
  • Work unsupervised to complete installation jobs and remain self-motivated.
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork related to job assignments.
  • Use hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment.
  • Conduct End-User training.
  • Isolate trouble to a customer network where applicable.
