About The Position

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Complex Specimen Processor PRN to join our team in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This role is crucial for providing expertise in laboratory specimen processing and ensuring positive patient interactions. The position involves receiving laboratory specimens, processing and preparing them for submission to referral laboratories, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and a commitment to teamwork.

Requirements

• A completed High School Diploma or GED.
• A Vocational/Technical diploma is beneficial.
• 1-3 years of experience in a market or commercial clinical laboratory setting.
• A wide range of experience with patients in all age groups from infancy to geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Receive laboratory specimens into the laboratory information system.
• Process, sort, and prepare specimens for submission to referral laboratories.
• Label specimens and aliquots according to established protocols and testing ordered.
• Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
• Prepare specimens for courier pick-up.
• Keep appropriate records/documentation relating to specimen problems and take corrective action to ensure validity and accuracy of testing.
• Assess specimen requirements for referral testing and troubleshoot any specimen requirement and/or referral testing specimen or order entry issues.
• Review Outstanding Specimen Report (OSR) and pending referral testing issues.
