About The Position

The Computer Engineer (CYBER) position at the U.S. Coast Guard involves planning, analyzing, designing, developing, testing, configuring, installing, implementing, and integrating networked systems for data, voice, and video transmission. This role supports the Transport Services Branch - Deployed Connectivity Sustainment Section and requires a strong background in network management and system engineering.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a combination of education and experience in engineering.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.
• Knowledge of software, hardware, networks, and telecommunications systems architecture and protocols.
• Experience with installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.

Nice To Haves

• Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or equivalent within two years of entry into the position.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain networks, switches, and routers for Deployed Connectivity networks.
• Troubleshoot problems ranging from common to complex and recommend upgrades to the current Network Transport infrastructure.
• Analyze design requirements and constraints to develop transport solutions and document detailed system and security designs.
• Develop system engineering documentation, transport connectivity configurations, and testing and validation procedures.
• Provide guidelines for implementing developed systems to customers or installation teams.
