The Computer Repair Specialist I position is an entry-level role within the IT department, primarily focused on the repair and maintenance of computer systems. This position requires a foundational understanding of computer systems and at least one IT certification, such as the Google IT Support Professional or CompTIA A+. The specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the physical inspection, cleaning, troubleshooting, testing, and factory resetting of computers. Additionally, the role may involve repairing or replacing faulty components and refurbishing donated computers for underserved populations. The specialist will also provide computer repair services to the general public and assist in orientation and training for DiverseIT clientele who are receiving computers. This includes conducting both over-the-phone and in-person instruction, answering questions, and tracking training sessions in a CRM system like Salesforce. The role requires effective communication skills to respond to calls, voice messages, and in-person visits, as well as assisting in tracking computer requests, repairs, and follow-ups. The position may require flexibility in working hours, as it could involve working outside standard work schedules. To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of one year of computer repair experience in IT or a related field. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of advanced computer software applications and basic computer hardware, as well as proficiency in effective computer repair practices. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, are essential. Additionally, candidates must be willing to assist with training new employees and maintain a collaborative teamwork environment.
