About the position
The Vehicle Condition Report Writer/Vehicle Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of vehicles to assess their condition and document any damage or required repairs. This role involves using a handheld computer to generate Condition Reports (CR) that include detailed descriptions, photographs, and repair cost estimates. The position requires adherence to safety procedures and a willingness to learn and follow established work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessment of vehicle condition, noting any damage or repair required for frame, paint, engine, AC, mechanical and general systems operation, radio, navigation system, tires, etc.
- Prepare support documentation related to vehicle condition, including vehicle identification data, condition description, repair costs estimates, photographs, etc.
- Conduct courtesy walk-around inspections.
- Follow all applicable safety and health related procedures.
- May be required to locate, start and move vehicles as directed.
Requirements
- Minimum High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Auto Mechanic experience (2 years required).
- Inspection/CR Writing experience (1 year preferred).
Nice-to-haves
- Must be detail-oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task.
- General knowledge of mechanical and automotive body work.
- Previous body shop and mechanical experience.
