About the position

Zurich is seeking an experienced Construction Casualty Underwriter, (Sr. Level III or AVP Level IV) to join our National Accounts team. This role will be filled at either the Senior Construction Casualty Underwriter (Level III) or AVP, Construction Casualty Underwriter (Level IV). The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position. As a Construction Casualty Underwriter, you will have the opportunity to utilize your marketing and analytical skills to analyze and underwrite new and renewal business. This position operates under general direction, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on assignments of higher technical complexity, ensuring a high level of service to customers. This is a market-facing position, thus we are seeking someone with a strong sales execution mindset and knowledge of construction casualty policies. Key accountabilities of this role include administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. You will develop, maintain, and collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs as appropriate. Building and maintaining relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) is crucial for supporting business retention and acquisition. You will work closely with customers and distributors to determine their insurance-related needs and provide tailored solutions. Additionally, you will support the organization's sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers, and customers, proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities. Completing detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities and qualifying accounts to align with the organization's appetite while balancing sound business opportunities are also essential responsibilities. Making broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose is expected as part of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
