About the position

Recore Electrical Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Construction Estimator to join our pre-construction team. This full-time position is based just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, and is integral to our operations as one of the largest electrical contractors in the Charlotte Metro Area. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to accurately determine the materials, labor, and time needed to complete electrical projects within industrial facilities. This role requires collaboration with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost estimates and competitive bids. The Construction Estimator will engage in various key responsibilities, including cost estimation, bid preparation, collaboration with stakeholders, cost analysis, risk management, documentation, and continuous improvement. The estimator will analyze project requirements, including blueprints and technical specifications, to estimate the costs of electrical installations. This includes estimating the quantity and cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services required for the project. The role also involves preparing detailed and competitive bids, considering labor rates, material costs, overhead, profit margins, and project timelines. In addition to these responsibilities, the estimator will conduct cost analysis and value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. They will also be responsible for identifying and assessing potential risks associated with electrical projects and developing strategies to mitigate these risks. Maintaining accurate records of all cost estimates, bid proposals, and project-related documentation is essential, as is ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. The estimator will also be expected to stay updated on industry trends and participate in professional development activities to enhance their skills and knowledge in industrial electrical estimation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements, including blueprints and technical specifications, to estimate costs of electrical installations.
  • Prepare detailed and competitive bids for industrial electrical projects, considering labor rates, material costs, and project timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to gather information and clarify project requirements.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Identify and assess potential risks associated with electrical projects and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cost estimates, bid proposals, and project-related documentation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and participate in training programs to enhance skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in electrical estimating, preferably in industrial construction or manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for quantifying materials and labor requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and spreadsheet applications used in electrical construction estimating.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards for industrial electrical installations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
