The construction laborer will be responsible for working within a crew on various road projects throughout an assigned territory, specifically the Cincinnati Metro Area or Dayton Metro Area. This role involves a variety of tasks that are essential for the successful completion of road construction projects. The laborer will be expected to perform duties that include cleaning and preparing construction sites, maintaining equipment, and assisting in the handling of materials such as asphalt and concrete. The position requires a strong commitment to safety and adherence to all DOT and company regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for both workers and traffic in the vicinity of the work zones. The laborer will also be involved in setting up and taking down temporary work zones, managing traffic control, and performing various physical tasks that contribute to the overall progress of the construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces.
- Keep equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Shovel asphalt and other materials.
- Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates.
- Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently.
- Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers.
- Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines.
- Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials.
- Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw.
- Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones.
- Seal end joints.
- Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed.
- Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record.
- Road construction experience.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Follow all DOT and company safety regulations.
- OSHA 10 Hour Certification.
- High School diploma/GED.
