About the position

Ardurra is seeking a Construction Manager to join our Public Works / Project and Construction Management Group in San Diego County. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in public capital projects, particularly in the water/wastewater pipeline and facility fields. This role involves assisting project and construction management professionals to oversee construction contractors and collaborate with project delivery teams for the successful completion of public infrastructure and facilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to interpret engineered construction plans, technical specifications, and contract requirements, are critical for this position. Competency in cost estimating and scheduling is also desirable. The primary duties of the Construction Manager will include observing that the work is completed in accordance with the drawings and specifications, conducting daily field reporting, tracking contractor's installed quantities, witnessing tests, documenting test results, and serving as a liaison between the engineer and contractor. The role will also involve reviewing, logging, and processing Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change order proposals, Critical Path Method Schedules, general correspondence, payment applications, and other related construction administration activities. Typical projects will involve the construction of public infrastructure and facilities using various construction methods, and qualified candidates may work on one or more projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in observing that the work is completed in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct daily field reporting and track contractor's installed quantities.
  • Witness tests and document test results.
  • Serve as a liaison between the engineer and contractor.
  • Review, log, and process Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and change order proposals.
  • Manage Critical Path Method Schedules and general correspondence.
  • Handle payment applications and other related construction administration activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management related coursework/certifications, EIT and/or CMIT preferred.
  • 5 plus years in the Construction field or Project/Construction Management Services.
  • Familiarization with local municipalities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Desirable skills in CPM scheduling and cost estimating.
