About the position

The Construction Specialist (Drone Technology) at Parsons will play a crucial role in a dynamic, cross-functional drone operations team. This position involves assisting the Drone Program Manager in executing complex, business-driven initiatives across various project phases, ensuring high-quality outputs while addressing technical challenges related to hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the role of remote pilot in command on various projects with other flight crew members.
  • Resolve complex technical problems by finding innovative solutions such as utilizing scripts to address software-related deficiencies.
  • Assemble, test, maintain, tune, and overhaul various drone systems to maintain the team's operational readiness.
  • Work with various drone-related software and hardware, including flight controllers, payloads, and data processing programs.
  • Develop curriculum to train Parsons remote pilots both in the field and online.
  • Stay updated with unmanned technology news.
  • Maintain high-level quality assurance to ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, unmanned aviation, or another related STEM field.
  • Proficiency with coding and previous experience with unmanned aircraft.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Willingness to travel to site locations, up to 50%.

Nice-to-haves

  • 0-5 years of related experience is preferred.
  • Part 107 Certificate, hands-on UAS experience, and experience with various flight controllers.
  • Proficiency with Python, C++, program writing, debugging, and modeling, including 3D modeling and additive manufacturing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows Office Systems, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and teach new software and hardware, prepare presentations, and demonstrate team and leadership skills.
