About the position

At PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL), we believe that every person has the right to participate fully in the global economy. Our mission is to democratize financial services to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or economic standing, has access to affordable, convenient, and secure products and services to take control of their financial lives. The Director of Consumer FP&A will lead financial planning and reporting processes across the Consumer Business Unit (BU), consolidating information across different products. This is a broad role in scope, entailing weekly/monthly financial reporting for the full P&L covering revenue, transaction margin, and operating expenses (opex). This role will also work closely with the finance points of contact (POCs) supporting Consumer BU products to understand overall drivers and manage risks and opportunities across the portfolio. We are searching for a strong finance/FP&A professional to join and support the Consumer Organization within PayPal. You can make an impact by providing insight into business performance and financial results through timely analysis of trends and key performance indicators (KPIs), working closely with business partners, analytics, and accounting. The responsibilities include owning financial reporting and tracking of the overall Consumer BU outlook versus targets by summarizing variances and key drivers. You will manage key FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, risks and opportunities (R&Os), monthly close, and performance reporting. Regularly performing variance and sensitivity analyses on revenue performance for the Consumer BU is essential. The role requires providing consolidated financial tracking, analysis, commentary, and documents to the CFO, VP FP&A, and other key BU stakeholders to support key deliverables, working in close partnership with various FP&A and other Finance teams. You will drive conversations with cross-functional partners, namely the finance POCs supporting the various Consumer BU products across peer-to-peer (P2P), Venmo, Shopping/Rewards, as well as intersections with small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) and Enterprise segments. Setting parameters for consolidation and collaborating with business unit finance leads to consolidate financials for reporting, budgeting, and analysis is crucial. Additionally, you will develop, optimize, and standardize FP&A processes, including coordination of automation opportunities and sharing of best practices. Supporting and driving the planning of investment decision-making is also part of the role. You will synthesize and communicate the financial narrative for Consumer in executive and Board of Directors (BOD) meetings, lead and continue to grow a high-performing team, and demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. This includes translating complex concepts into layman's terms and influencing both peers and senior leadership. A deep understanding of the consumer business is necessary to identify key business levers, establish cause and effect, perform analyses, and communicate key findings to various stakeholders to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
