The Contact Representative (Benefits Coordinator) position at the Department of Health and Human Services is located in the Business Office of the Sisseton Service Unit. The primary purpose of this role is to function as the Alternative Resource Benefits Coordinator, ensuring the identification of patients who are eligible for alternative resources. This includes making clear and convincing oral presentations, listening to others, and responding appropriately to nonverbal cues. The Contact Representative will also utilize their knowledge gained through formal training and extensive on-the-job experience to advise others on technical issues related to healthcare benefits. The position is full-time and offers a promotion potential to GS-07. It is a permanent appointment with no telework eligibility and requires occasional travel. The selected candidate will need to pass a pre-employment examination and may be subject to a probationary period. U.S. Citizenship is required, and the position is covered by Public Law 101-630, which mandates specific background checks due to the nature of the work involving contact with Indian children.
