About the position

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Contracts Administrator to join our Contracts and Grants department in Chicago. This position is pivotal in advising senior staff, particularly Research Department Heads, on the risks associated with NORC's legal agreements. The Contracts Administrator will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and administering contracts and subcontracts, including modifications and closeouts. A strong understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), OMB Uniform Guidance, cost accounting standards, and various reporting requirements is essential for this role. The Contracts and Grants department is a dynamic team composed of both attorney and non-attorney professionals who handle a wide array of legal and compliance matters critical to NORC's operations. The department is led by NORC's General Counsel and is committed to ensuring that all contracts align with regulatory requirements and organizational goals. The Contracts Administrator will play a key role in maintaining compliance and oversight, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met and that NORC operates within the legal frameworks established by federal and state regulations. In addition to contract management, the Contracts Administrator will assist in organizational audits and troubleshoot specific contract issues as they arise. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail to ensure that all aspects of contract management are handled efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills to maintain official contractual communications between NORC and its clients, as well as the ability to prepare proposal documents and advise leadership on compliance requirements. Responsibilities

  • Drafts and negotiates contracts with clients and contractors

  • Assists in organizational audits
  • Assures company-wide compliance with contract and regulatory requirements

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
