About the position

The Center for AI Safety (CAIS) is a leading research and advocacy organization on a mission to reduce societal-scale risks from AI. We tackle the toughest AI issues with a mix of technical and policy solutions, working with our sister organization, the CAIS Action Fund. As part of our mission, we are building a network of skilled contributing writers to support our growing content needs. We are looking for technical writers with experience in machine learning who can help to communicate results in technical AI safety research to a broad audience.

Responsibilities

• Editing and drafting sections of research papers, turning research results into a polished final output
• Writing and curating the ML Safety Newsletter, which covers developments in machine learning/technical AI safety for a research audience

Requirements

• Experience in technical writing, particularly in the field of machine learning
• Ability to distill complex machine learning research into accessible content
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Experience with structured editorial processes

Nice-to-haves

• Previous writing experience in AI safety or related fields
• Familiarity with the latest research in machine learning
