About The Position

The Controller position at Delaware Valley Floral Group is a hands-on role responsible for leading the accounting department and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the CFO to develop and implement key financial processes and internal controls, supporting the company's growth-oriented strategy.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in accounting and a CPA license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years working for a public accounting firm with experience managing financial audits.
  • 5+ years of recent experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in Distribution, Logistics, or Manufacturing with perishable inventory.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and related accounting principles.
  • Experience with private-equity owned companies is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and take charge of assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Business Intelligence tools.
  • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and manage a team including an accounting manager and accounts payable manager.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage the monthly financial close and improve the accuracy and consistency of financial reporting.
  • Coordinate activities with the outside accounting firm and manage annual financial audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Perform financial analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in support of corporate strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial and tax reporting regulations.
  • Conduct routine audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Manage corporate tax planning and ensure compliance with tax regulations and filings.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable department and drive process automation.
  • Perform cash management, cash forecasting, and treasury functions.
  • Develop internal audit functions and programs for various audits.
  • Prepare and present analysis and reports to management.
