About The Position

The Controller will lead the accounting and finance department of a well-known agriculture-based company, providing critical support in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting operations. This role involves close collaboration with the CFO and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial operations and reporting, contributing to the company's financial management in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing, agriculture, or production-related industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting operations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial staff.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or agriculture-related industry.
  • Previous experience as an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage the company’s accounting systems, ensuring accurate posting of transactions and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process by collecting and analyzing data to identify financial trends and variances.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Work closely with the CFO to implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Analyze financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities, operational efficiencies, and financial risks within the business.
  • Participate in audit preparations and respond to auditors' requests during the audit process.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior accounting staff, helping to develop their skills and improve processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and recommendations to drive business performance and growth.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and reporting as needed.
