About The Position

The Controller at Prospera Credit Union is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Accounting department and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This position involves direct reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and encompasses a range of responsibilities from day-to-day accounting functions to strategic financial analysis and team development.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting and finance management.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and month-end close processes.
• Experience in budgeting and financial analysis.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Accounting and Finance functions as a working manager.
• Manage general ledger activities including balancing, reconciliation, fixed assets, and accruals.
• Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and appropriateness of expenses.
• Conduct month-end processing including journal entries, verification of general ledgers, variance reporting, and financial preparation and review.
• Train, direct, and develop the accounting team.
• Assist in the budgeting process and perform financial analysis.
• Coordinate audit and examination processes.
• Provide strategic direction and collaborate with other departments on projects and fixed assets.
