About the position

The Controls Engineer position at a chemical plant in El Dorado, AR, involves developing, implementing, and maintaining automation and control systems. This role is critical for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the maintenance team in emergency situations. Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain the automation and control systems for the plant site, including electrical, PLC, DCS, pneumatic circuits, and networking.
  • Ensure control systems comply with regulatory requirements such as SIL/LOPA assessments.
  • Maintain and create instrument and electrical drawings for control systems, including motor elementaries and instrument loop sheets.
  • Assist the maintenance team with assigned work and breakdowns/emergency work orders.
  • Maintain PLC documentation from equipment suppliers and archive PLC programs and machine controls drawings.
  • Provide training and mentoring to technicians and technical staff on control system strategies and installations.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining IT systems and infrastructure, both internally and with external vendors.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Electrical, Controls, and Instrumentation in chemical manufacturing plants.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation Controls.
  • Knowledge of IT and OT network communication protocols.
  • Understanding of threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits in ICS environments and appropriate mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for ICS environments.
  • Working knowledge of PSM and DHS regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work now and in the future without sponsorship.
