About the position

The Roofing Controls Leader (RCL) is responsible for the development and execution of controls systems and automation within the Roofing division, ensuring alignment with business strategy. The RCL leads a team focused on driving value through innovative control applications and automation technologies to enhance plant performance. The role emphasizes three leadership pillars: Standards, Technology, and Talent, and involves collaboration with various teams to implement best practices and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and environmentally compliant workplace where safety is a first priority.
  • Define and implement control reliable technology within operations, identifying gaps and requirements for control equipment.
  • Establish standards for PLC programs and manage revision control for HMI's and PLC's.
  • Partner with Capital team and specialists to standardize PLC and HMI programs across all projects.
  • Utilize digital tools to create plant standards for performance and share best practices between plants.
  • Manage life cycle of key control and automation systems, ensuring effective operation and maintenance.
  • Define standards for commissioning new controls and automation technology, including asset health monitoring.
  • Monitor data historian infrastructure and ensure compliance with environmental and legal requirements.
  • Develop business cases for new technologies and analytical tools in collaboration with various teams.
  • Lead the Controls Engineering organization, promoting talent development and a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or computer science) or equivalent controls experience in manufacturing.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant automation and controls experience in a manufacturing plant or corporate engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC based controls and HMI applications, particularly with Allen-Bradley systems.
  • Experience in transforming manufacturing facilities to automated environments.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with upgrading legacy systems and technology evaluation.
  • Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.
  • Expertise in PLC I/O modules and troubleshooting, especially in ladder logic.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software for data trend identification.
